Boil Water Notice Rescinded Saturday, June 11th, 2022Flying L Ranch
On Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system Flying L Ranch (PWS ID 0100016) to issue a Boil Water Notice due to Water Well being out of service. Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of Saturday, June 11th, 2022.If you have any further questions, please contact Chadwick Sillers 346-413-4324.
Public Notice to Boil Water
In Effect Tuesday, June 7th, 2022Flying L RanchDue to a Water Well being out of service the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system Flying L Ranch (PWS#0100016) notify customers of the need to boil their water.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Chadwick Sillers 346-413-4324.
December 15, 2021 - Rescind Boil Alert for all of The Community - We have received results from the lab and there are no issues with the water. There is no longer a Boil Alert in affect. Since the system was open while replacing 3 large valves at the plant, it has stirred up the sllt in the lines from the many years of not flushing. After the water was turned back on, we have now flushed all of the hydrants in the community. Because of the amount of silt that came out, we have decided to flush all hydrants every month for a few months. If you experience brown water or air in the lines, please let us know. There are still small amounts of air causing milky water, but that will soon clear up. Thank you.
December 13, 2021 - Notice of Boil Alert - Since the water was turned off this morning, the entire community is under a boil alert until we are able to receive test results. Once this happens, an email or text will be sent out.
December 10, 2021 - Notice of water outage - On Monday, Dec 13th, the water will be turned off for the entire ranch beginning as early as 8 am. A check valve failed and as we tried to replace it last month, it was noticed the two main valves that control distribution to the community were also bad. Because they have not been maintained through the years, they did not function so will also be replaced. We have two crews, along with our water operator working together to minimize the time the water will be off. We believe it will only be half a day, but please be prepared in case it takes longer than planned. After the water service is restored, the entire community will be under a boil alert until lab results are returned. We anticipate that will be on Weds sometime.
November 8, 2021 - 11:00am - Cancellation of Water Outage - Well, the water is not being turned off this morning. The check valve we were trying to replace cannot be done now. Not only was the valve that isolated the problem area bad, but when we tried to turn off the water flowing from the tanks to the check valve, they were all frozen from years of not exercising them. So all of the valves at the main water plant will have to be replaced. At that time, we will have to drain the big water tanks to do the work. It will be very expensive and the water at that time will be off for about a day. However, this type of repair will be scheduled, we will work with our Ranch partners and everyone will have about a week's notice before it happens. Thank you for your understanding, we are working hard to bring the system up to good working condition.
November 8, 2021 - 10:25 am - Water Outage for entire Ranch - There is a problem with a check valve at the main water plant that has been causing issues for about 2 months. Because of supply issues, we could not get the part. I told them to please install as soon as it came in. Well, they were already on the way to install before we knew anything about it. Then because of a lack of past maintenance, the cutoff valve for that area does not work. So in order to change out the check valve, the entire Ranch will have to be turned off. Like I said, we did not know it would be today until they were already on the way and we did not know about the condition of the valve to issolate that area being bad. We think it will only be off for a couple of hours effective immediately and then we will be under a boil alert. You will be sent another alert when the boil alert is recsinded.
August 23, 2021 - Rescind of Boil Alert for Oak Hills and Valley View We have received results from the lab and there are no issues with the water on Oak Hills and Valley View after the water leak we had on Friday. There is no longer a Boil Alert in affect. Thank you for your patience.
August 20, 2021 - Boil Water Alert for Oak Hills and Valley View A 6" main was hit during golf course construction. This is in the area we worked on the valves earlier in the year so we were able to isolate this leak so that it would not affect the entire ranch. However, the TCEQ requires us to issue a boil alert for Oak HIlls and Valley View until we verify there are no contaminates. Unfortunately, it is the weekend but we will get the test results as soon as possible. Please call with any questions.
April 28th - Boil Alert has been lifted We have received the lab reports and there is no issue with the water. There is no contamination and the Boil Alert has been lifted. This process is for the safety of our community and the long term improvement of our water system. Thank you very much for your understanding.
April 26th - Afternoon update - Boil Alert info All repairs are complete for this go around. Knollwood will NOT be turned off again. In reference to the Boil Alert, our best thinking is the lab report will be complete Weds morning and we can lift the Boil Alert. I will send out a Text and Email alert the minute I get it back. Thank you for your patience.
April 26th 12:20 - Update All work went smooth this morning. The water for the entire ranch, including the 3 streets in the front will be back on at about 1:30, or sooner. Later in the afternoon, Knollwood only will be off again for about 45 minutes. Once the water comes back on, there will be silt that has been stirred up in the lines so it will be brown and air in the lines. Recommendation is to make your bathtub the first thing you turn on. It does not have a screen and will not clog up. Chad, our new operator will be flushing as quickly as he can.
April 26, 2021 - Schedule of water outage I have spoken to our contractors over the weekend and here is my best thinking about the schedule of water outages for Monday. I am hesitate because we are depending on other people and things do not always work out the way we plan. I am being told they will be here about 8:30 and the entire ranch will be shut off soon after until about noon. Around noon the majority of the ranch will be turned back on. However, the first 3 streets wil be out while the work continues, until about mid afternoon. Since the lines will be open, we will be in a boil alert once service is restored. I will update this site through the day as I know more.
April 24, 2021 - Water will be off on Monday the 26th and a Boil Alert will be in place The entire ranch will have the water off Monday morning. We do not have a working valve to isolate the area we are working on. The first valve once installed, will allow us to turn on the water for Edgewood on back. This work will take 2-4 hours and then the water will only be off on Glenvalley, Oak Hill and Knollwood. There will only be 3 valves replaced rather than the original 6, so I am hoping it will not be too long. Check here and I will provide updates through the day. Once the water does come back on, we will be under a boil alert. My best guess estimate is until Weds morning.
April 23, 2021 - Friday Update Water Interruption and Boil Alert On Tuesday the 20th, we told you the water was scheduled to be off on Thursday. Even though it was not turned off, I am required to officially tell you the alert has been lifted. Click Here to view. Now the water will be turned off on Monday 26th. Details will be posted tomorrow.
April 21, 2021 - Update on Water Interruption and Boil Alert The water will not be turned off on Thursday April 22. It will now be turned off on Monday April 26th and a boil alert will be issued. Our contractors had an emergency elsewhere and could not come to the Flying L until 2:30 on Weds. We did not want to take a chance of issues running into the weekend so all prep work is being done this week and then early Monday, the water will be turned off while repairs are completed. It does appear we will be able to turn off only the front of the ranch, leaving the back on. However, there is no guarantee, still might involve the entire ranch.
April 20, 2021 - Water Interruption and Boil Alert In an effort to isolate small sections of the ranch to do repairs, 6 valves will be replaced on Weds and Thurs of this week. The plan is to dig and prep the valves on Weds and then turn the water off on Thurs to do the actual repair or replace. We are trying to turn only the water off on Glenvalley, Oak Hill, and Knollwood where the work is being done. However, we do not know if that is possible. The entire ranch might need to be turned off, we just do not know at this time. The ranch will be under a boil alert after the water comes back on since the pipes will be opened. I hope to get the water tested and lift the boil alert within 24-48 hours. Another alert will go out when the alert is lifted.
Feb. 26, 2021 Boil Alert Notice:Test results came back and our water is safe to drink. The boil alert has been lifted. I am sorry it took so long.
Feb 19th - The issue this morning with the water we thought was a simple reset. However it is a little bigger issue, not sure yet. Our big well is not pumping so the tank ran low. The tank is now being refilled with the smaller well so it will be a little longer. We have called the well company is on the way. Once the tank fills up to an acceptable level from Well #1, water should be restored while they are working to fix the problem on Well #2.
Feb. 15, 2021 - There is a water supply issue this evening. Two companies have been called to fix the problem but neither have responded. At this point, there is very little information but we will post updates as soon as we have them. It is unlikely it will be fixed tonight.
Feb. 2, 2021 - In addition to the work being done at the Sewer plant on Tuesday, the water on the entire ranch will be turned off for a maximum of two hours on Tuesday morning. There was a small leak near the practice putting green today and the valves to turn off this area do not work because of a lack of maintenance in the past. So all the prep work will be done ahead of time to make sure the water is turned off for the least amount of time while the valves are replaced. Once the valves are replaced, the water to 90% of the ranch will turned back on while it is shut off in the area of the leak to repair it.
February 2, 2021 Waste Water Transport out of Austin will be here to take care of some long over due maintenance on our Sewer plant. Over the years dirt, rocks and other debris has gotten into the clarifier, clogging up the system. It has greatly reduced the efficiency of the plant and has gotten close to the point of being non-functional. Our sewer plant has plenty of capacity for the residents of the Flying L, if it is working properly. Once this cleaning is done, it should be good for many years to come. This maintenance will not cause any disruption in service to the residents. The only thing you might notice are several large pump trucks coming and going.
January 25, 2021 - A little more detail on our water problem this morning. The PUD has two pumps that supplies water pressure to the residents. If one goes down the other can act as a back up. Well one was turned off for some maintenance and the other tripped, like a breaker turning off in your home. When this happens, the water in the storage tanks will push water out to most people, but at a much slower rate. Jerry was able to get the one up and running as soon as he could. This restored pressure and then has the pump company coming to get the second booster pump up and running. So, in summary both booster pumps were out for a short while and we are hoping all repairs will be completed today. Thank you for your patience.
Nov 3rd elections resulted in the addition of Judd Ryan and Nathon Laws to the PUD Board of Directors. Don Batemen was re-elected and voted in as President of the PUD at the Nov. 9th meeting. Austin Christensen was voted in as Vice-President while Nathon became the Sectretary. Congradulations to all.
